We often think of them as being elegant, beautiful, and youthful.... Perhaps, they are actually rotund little ladies with handbags and a penchant for a fine cup of tea? I wove these charming little Guardian Angels on a tiny loom that I designed just for them. They are mostly made with handspun yarns, with acorn cap hats (from our sister's oak tree), and have fine and fancy shoes and little copper hands, button faces, wings and hearts of delight. 'Les Anges Guardiennes Adorable' are about 3 inches tall and are each $19.95 + shipping ![]() Magda, Guardian Angel $19.95 + shipping to order please click: Order yes, we accept paypal ![]() ![]() Rosa, Guardian Angel $19.95 + shipping to order please click: Order yes, we accept paypal ![]() Blanche, Guardian Angel $19.95 + shipping to order please click: Order yes, we accept paypal MENOPAUSE FAIRY DOLLS Recently, we were vendors at a fiber event. People kept asking to buy my Crocheted Menopause Fairy Doll. ![]() No, I said... I'm sorry, but that doll is not for sale. Just the pattern..... "Wailie, wailie, we want Menopause Fairy Dolls!" They exclaimed. So, I designed and made a special little loom to weave these dolls and now am delighted to present: One of a Kind Menopause Fairy Dolls Augusta, The Shoe Loving Menopause Fairy Doll Augusta is approximately 15 inches tall. ![]() Her body is actually a pouch to hide treasures and cherished mementos. Her arms and legs are polished apple wood, from a tree that didn't survive the winter. BUT, Willow is a survivor! Like her sister, Augusta, her body is a pouch, for saving rose petals or other glories. I wove it from yarn that I spun on hand spindles. Willow's breasts are also vintage buttons. Willow is $75.00 + shipping to order her, please click: Order The following group of dolls are what I am calling my 'Reclaiming Dolls'. That's because their heads all began with a bit of dumpster diving. I was sitting in the car, waiting for Jim, when I spotted an interesting little box sitting on a pile of trash. I hopped out, scooped it up and was delighted to find a bunch of pieces of wood and some tiny scraps of leather. The wooden scraps were cut from branches of trees that had been cut about 4 inches long and split in half. I puzzled for weeks about what I could make with them, and had an 'aha' moment, when I thought: Heads up! ![]() You can see the progression, as I cut and shaped the heads, then drew and burned and embellished them. They strike me as being a wonderful metaphor: We all have parts of ourselves and our lives that we are reclaiming, renewing, restoring, repairing, and recovering. This is Reclaiming Doll Nenni ![]() Nenni is not for sale DARLING DAUGHTER RECLAIMING DOLLS: My daughter is a wonderful woman, whom I am delighted to have as one of my dearest friends. When I made these dolls, she laughed and said: 'Excuse me, but is that my face again?' We both roared with laughter, as sure enough, I had 'borrowed her face' in making dolls that are an homage to my darling daughter, but also to ALL beloved daughters! ![]() This is April.
