It's back to basics for us with our cord makers.

We are creating a new line of spool knitters and cord makers that are unpainted,
 in order to comply with the new child safety legislation in the States.
After all, cord making is something that speaks to the inner child,
and is a joy to share with children.

We want to be able to continue to create magical, enchanting and delightful
one of a kind cord makers that will bring joy to people-
BUT....
we can't paint the spool knitters and cord makers that might be used by children under the age of 12  anymore
and we can't put sealers or varnishes on them-
because the legislation says that
even though craftspeople are using paints and finishes that have been certified,
the craftspeople STILL have to submit the product for testing
as soon as they use those certified paints and finishes.
oi vey. 
(testing destroys the product, so when you are making one of a kind spool knitters,    that is kind of counter productive, dontcha think? LOL!)

We recommend that you put a coat of water based varythane or sealer on the spool knitters and cord makers to preserve the wood burning on them.
Check to see that the sealer you are using is certified, and then, happy stitching!
